A New Chapter Begins: Meet Our Narragansett Turkeys!

After seven wonderful years of growing, tending, and nurturing all that Gobbler House Farms has to offer, we’re thrilled to announce a brand-new addition to the family — Narragansett turkeys!

That’s right — for the first time ever, Gobbler House Farms is raising a breeding pair of Narragansett turkeys, and we couldn’t be more excited to share this journey with you.

We started with these two — one male and one female — as tiny, fuzzy chicks just a few short weeks ago. Fast forward to today, and at 6 weeks old, they’re growing fast, showing off their curious natures, and learning the ropes of farm life.

It’s amazing to watch their personalities blossom. Our tom (Master Choof) is already starting to strut his stuff, while the hen is curious and rambunctious, always watching what’s going on around her. We’re raising them with care and love, and we can’t wait to see what the future holds for this beautiful pair.

By 6 weeks, poults are nearly fully feathered. Their adult feathers begin replacing the soft down, especially on the wings and back, giving them a scruffier but more grown-up look. Males may already start showing subtle signs of gender differences like thicker legs or slightly more prominent snoods.

Turkeys at this age become very curious and start pecking at objects, flaring their feathers in mock displays, and establishing a pecking order. They’re developing their unique vocalizations and may start making “yelps” or “kee-kees” as early social sounds.

Why Narragansett Turkeys?

As a heritage breed with deep roots in American farming history, Narragansett turkeys are known for their calm temperament, striking plumage, and excellent foraging abilities. They’re a perfect fit for our sustainable, hands-on approach to farming. Not only are they beautiful to look at, but their personalities are already adding so much charm to our little homestead.

Our goal is to raise this pair into healthy adults and, in time, begin a small breeding program right here at Gobbler House Farms. Narragansett turkeys are known for their strong maternal instincts and natural breeding ability, and we hope to one day share this incredible heritage breed with others in our community.

Stay tuned as we document their journey — from feathered fluffballs to proud adults — and maybe even to the day when they welcome their very own poults to the farm.

We’re so happy to have you along for the ride. Thank you for supporting Gobbler House Farms as we continue to grow, one feathered friend at a time.

With gratitude,
Gobbler House Farm
